Delyuerit to the Erl Stirling, in his awin hous in Alexander Clerk's lodging, the new Soap fignator dockettit be me, with the old figned be his Maieftie, with the fignator of Brichen and Navar to Lord Panmuir, and an other of Balmakelly to him and his fone Hary, with informatioun how to vfe the famyn.

Item, delyuerit to the Erl Stirling ane nott anent Vicount Stormonth, Lord Quhythil, and Sir James Steuart.

This nycht about 9 at nycht, fent ane pacquet to the Erl Stirling, quhairin 1 pacquet to him felf, another to his fone from Mr. James Gordoun, and within his two from me. Item, to my fone Mr. Alexander, quhairin to Lord Panmuir from me, and tua from James Murray. Item, from me to Erl Annandaill, with a pacquet from Thomas Maxwell. Item, to Erl Ancrum, and within a packett from Erll of Lothian. Item, from me to James Livingstoun, to Sir James Carmichaell, to L. Sandfurd, to Babethan. Item, a pacquet to Patrik Wodd. Memorandum. In my letters to Lord Panmuir I haif fent a gift of non entry of Carloungie. Item, my warrand for exceptioun of Kynninmonth from the furrander of Sanctandrois.

This day Mr. Nathaniel Vdward went to Court, and fent with him a letter to Mr. Alexander, and within it a letter to Erl Annandaill, in anfuer of his reffauit 11 November, and another to James Levingstoun anent Sir James Baillie his offer for Nuck.

This day a letter fent to the Erl Roxburgh to Broxmouth, and within Ditta, Lord it the ditta aganis Lord Balmerinach, to be fchawin to his Maieftie. Item, a letter to Mr. Alexander, and within it one to James Levingstoun anent Sir James Baillie.

This day a pacquet gevin to William Douglas, feruitor to the Erl of Mem.—In this I Mortoun, quho went poft, quhairin to Erl Stirling anent Lord Balmeri-muir anent the noch's dyet and ditta. Item, to Lord Panmuir about it, and within his bying of his anletter the ditta to be fchawin to his Maieftie. Item, letter to Sir James Carmichael for the famyn. Item, letter to my fone Mr. Alexander.

This day fent with the Erl of Lothian, a letter to the Erl of Ancrum his father, with a pacquet to my fone Mr. Alexander, quhairin to himself, with a nott of the Bishop Roffe his outragious speeches; commanding him to keip quyet, except the Bishop Roffe move any queftioun or challenge aganis me; with a letter to the Archbishop Canterbury. Item, a letter to the Erl Stirling, to Lord Alexander, to Sir James Carmichael, to Sir William Elphinstoun, to Erl of Annandaill, to Lord Panmuir, and within it a letter from Mr. David Falconer to him, with Patrick Strachan his writtis.

This day letters fent to Erl Stirling by a fervand of Anthonie Alexander, Mr. Wark decessit. quho went with his fignator of Mr. Wark, vacant be decefe of Sir James Murray, quho deceffit on Setterday.

Pacquet fent to the Erl Stirling, quhairin from Mr James Gordoun, Justice Clerk, L. Thorntoun. Item, from my felf to Erl Stirling, to Lord Alexander, to Lord Panmuir, to my fone, and in it a nott tuiching the criminal proces, and off the plott for laying the blayme on me if it mifcarry. This stoppit be Erl Traquhair all Twyfday till nycht, and it went on Twyfday at 10 hours at nycht.

Item, the Erl of Traquhair fent a pacquett, quhilk went on Thursday 11 December, and in it one from me to the Lord of Panmuir, anent the Bifchop of Brichen his anfuer.

12 December 1634, Fryday.

Being at the Justice Court aganis the Lord Balmerinoch, pacquet cam to Erl Traquhair, quhairin letters to me from Erl Stirling, Lord Panmuir, and my fone, of 3 December, advertising me off the Chancellar's deidlie My sone Mr. Alex- palfey and the Erl Mortoun's feiknes. Item, that my fone at Windfoir wes fworn be his Maieftie in extraordinar Carver.

Item, a pacquet to my fone, quhairin to Lord Panmuir, to Marques of Hamiltoun, to Erll Roxburgh, to Erl of Annandaill, to James Levingstoun, with Arthor Nefmyth's letters, to Sandfurd, to Babethan, and to my fone himself. Item, fent a letter from James Narn to his brother the L. Sandfurd, quhilk cam to me efter the clofing of my pacquet.

Item, thairefter I drew vp ane breviat off the proceidingis in the Justice Lord Balmerinach. Court aganis the Lord Balmerinoch, and inclofit in ane letter to the Lord

Item, Erl Traquhair fent a fervand to Court this day, but told me nothing thairoff.

This day Robert Allan, fervitor to James Levingstoun, returnit to Court, with quhom I wret to him.

This day Mr. James Ferquharfoun went poft to Court, and fent with Lord Balmerinach. him a pacquet vnder the cover of Mr. James Gordoun, direct to Erll of Stirling, quhairin to Erl Stirling, to Lord Panmuir, and within his the breviat of the criminal proces aganis Balmerinoch, from 16 December to 20 inclusive, at quhilk tyme it wes continewit to xj of Februar. Item, ane nott of the priuat procedings in that buffines with the Justice his affeffors and the Bifchoppis. Item, to him in the famyn letter a draucht of my precept of 2000b sterling. Mr. James Ferquharfoun went not quhil Fryday the 26 December, and I fent with him the former, togither with another pacquet direct to the Erl of Stirling, quhairin one to himself, with a nott of the Clerk of Register's abuses to me. Item, one to Lord Panmuir, quhairin wer the lyk nott, with a nott of the calumnies laid on me in this process aganis my Lord Balmerinach.

This nycht, about 5 hours at nycht, a pacquet cam to me from Erl of Stirling, quhilk I opened in presence of the post maister's fone, and delyuerit to him al the letteris except thois that wes to myself. By this I wes adverdecessit, 16 Decem-tifit that the Lord Chancellar deciffit on 16 December 1634.
