Sent letters with Mr. Hary Drummond and Capitan Graham, my letters for the Erl Stirling in anfuer of thais reffavit laft December. Item, to Lord Panmuir, and within it the letter returnit quhilk he fent to Erl Traquhair. Item, the letter from his Maieftie to Bifchop Brichen (now Edinburgh) anent Moneky. Item, letters to my fone from myself, my fone, and his mother. Item, a letter from me to George Hope, thanking him for his kyndnes to Mr. Alexander.

Item, gevin to him, 4 Januar, being Sounday, ane letter to Erl Stirling, Archbishop of within it the fignator of the Chancellary to the Archbifchop of Sanctandrois, Chancellar.

4 Januar 1635, Weddinsday.

Sent with Sir Robert Ramfay letters to Erl Stirling, to my fone, quhairin to Erl Annandaill, and within his to the Countefs his lady, to James Levingstoun and his lady, to L. Sandfurd, and one to Sir David Cunyngham from his mother.

Sent letters with the Lord Lorn, and thairin to my fone Mr. Alexander, Mr. Alexander 60lb. sterling. 45 doubill angells and ane half, and 9 tuelf pund pieces and ane half, quhilk is in haill 60 fterling, therof 50b fterling to himself and 10 fterling for his fifter Marie. Item, to Lord Panmuir, with the procutory of Balmakelly. Item, one to Archbischop of Canterbury. Item, to Erl Annandaill, to Erl Ancrum, to Erl Stirling, to Sir James Lockart.

12 Februar 1635, Thursday.

This day John Hamiltoun of Orbiftoun went to Court, and fent with him a letter to the Marques. Item, one to Erl Roxbrugh. Item, one to Erl Stirling, with the fignators of Dean of Chapell anent exemptioun from taxatioun. Item, the Bifchop of Edinburgh his letters to Lord Panmuir.

Item, Thomas Maxwell's to Erl Annandaill, with my own to Lord Panmuir and him, and one to my fone.

13 Februar 1635, Fryday.

This day the Earl of Dumfries, and a fervand of the Erl of Traquhair's, went to Court, and fent with the Erl of Traquhair his fervand letters to my fone, quhairin to himself, to Erl Stirling, to Lord Panmuir, to Hary Alexander, to Mr. Walter Nefche.

Memorandum. The Erl of Traquhair his man went not at this tyme, and this pacquet remaynit in the Erl of Traquhair's hands vntil the 27 day. Item, on 25 Februar gevin to Mr. John Lawfoun, to be put in my Lord's pacquet, letters to Lord Panmuir, quhairin to him with the Bishop of Brichen his letter to me. Item, letters from Mr. Patrik Lyndfay.

27 Februar 1635.

Delyuerit to John Murray letters to the Lord Panmuir, and within it a letter from Mr. Patrik Lyndfay, and one from me to my fone, and within it one to the Lord Lorn.

Item, fent to James Levingstoun a letter anent Lord Banff, anent Arthor Nefmyth his agreement for L.b fterling, anent the Lady Samuelftoun her drauchts of Poffill.

All thir delyuerit to the Erl Traquair his fervand, quho went on Fryday 27 Februar 1635.

2 Merche 1635.

Reffauit ane pacquet from the Erl of Stirling of 17 Februar, and within it letters to John Pilmour, quhilk I delyuerit to James Murray. Item, letters to Mr. James Gordoun, quhilk I alfo delyuerit to Mr. James Gordoun.

7 Merche 1635, Setterday.

Pacquet fent be me to Erl Stirling, quhairin the contract betwix his Majestie and the Erll anent copper coyne. Item, my licence for wynning of mineralls in the baronies of Craighall and Kynninmonth. Item, letters

to Lord Panmuir, to Alexander Narn, to Sir Alexander Home of Manderftoun, and last to my fone.

12 Merche, Thursday, 1635.

Sent with Mr. Alexander Belfches letters to Erl Stirling, Lord Panmuir, and Lord Lorn, and to my fone.

16 Merche, Mononday, 1635.

Lord Balmerinach

Sent with Coronell Hepburne ane pacquet to Lord Panmuir, quhairin one 21 Merche.-The to him anent the Bishop Canterbury, the Erl Airth, Jon Maul, and the convict. precentory of Mafondew. Item, within his a letter to the Archbifchop of Canterbury, and ane other to my fone.

Item, within this pacquet one from the Erll of Lauderdaill to Lord Panmuir.

21 Merche, Setterday, 1635.

Memorandum. The former pacquet went not with Coronell Hepburne. But it with ane other to Lord Panmuir, with ane to the Countefs of Roxbrugh from the Lady Fleming, and one to the Erl of Ancrum. Item, one to Erl Stirling, and one to my fone, all tyet in ane pacquet, fent by pacquet from James Prymrois on 21 Merche 1635.

26 Merche 1635.

Delyuerit ane pacquet to the Lord Alexander, quhairin to Lord Panmuir, defyring him to acquaint his Maieftie with the way to mak all cheiffis anfuerabill for thair clanes, and fpecially Marques of Huntly, and defyring to haif his Majefties mind to the Counfell for that effect. Item, to acquaint his Maieftie with the decreit of mariage agains Erl Burgleish, and reduction of the heritabill office of Ifcheary; and if he haif occafioun, to pray at his Maieftie for my fignator with the mineralls of my hail lands. Item, to the Erl Stirling anent the famyn. Item, to James Levingftoun anent the famyn. Item, to Hary Alexander anent the famyn, and to my fone Mr. Alexander anent the famyn. Item, wret to the Erl of Annandaill anent his offices. Item, within this pacquet to the Lord Panmuir, ane nott of the laft proceidings aganis the Lord Balmerinach on 20 and 21 Merche.

This day the Erl Traquair and Lord Alexander went to court, and fent with them ane letter to his Maieftie, with ane accompt of my proceidings in his Majeftie's feruice. Item, ane letter to Lord Panmuir anent Patrik Maull, quhilk wes judgit this day in counfell. Item, a letter to the Erl Stirling anent the nonentry of Dawik. Item, a letter to Erll Annandaill, and laft a letter to my fone, with the doubill of my precept of 2000b fterling.

Item, delyuerit to the Lord Traquhair ane doubil of my accompt to his Maieftie, with the doubil of my docket of my fignator of Craighall, with the draucht of my precept of 2000b. furth of the annuity.

2 Apryll, Thursday, 1635.

This day Sir James Lockhart went to court, and als Mr. W. Quhytfurd; and I wret one to Erl Stirling for Sir James Lockart, anent his fignator of the fifching for furnifching of the countrey, and vther two with Mr. Walter to the Erl Stirling and Lord Panmuir, to fuit for him to get aither of the places of Galloway or Abirdein, quhilk ar both vacand, and als I anfuerit the Lord of Panmuir his letter anent Admirality recommendit to him to affift Mr. Walter Quhytfurd. Item, at this tyme Babethan went to court, with quhom fent a letter to his brother Doctor Chalmer.

6 Apryll 1635, Mononday.

Sent with the Prefident of Seffioun (quho, with Bishop Rofs and Clerk

of Register, went to court) a letter to the Lord Panmuir, and within it one to the Erl of Stirling, quhairin I acquaint them with the queftioun anent the patronages of Roffe.

Item, thairefter fent in a pacquet to my fone a letter to Lord Panmuir, This sent with Archibald Campwith a nott of the patronage of Rofs thairin, ane other to the Erll Traquhair bell. with the lyk nott, a letter to the Lord Marquefs, and a letter to the Erl Roxbrugh, referring him to my commentarie of the Erl of Traquhair anent violent followers of publik, and the Morn In the particulers of it flat contrair.

7 Apryll, Twyfday, 1635.

Delyuerit to Archibald Campbell my pacquet to the Erl Stirling, quhairin Mem.-Archibald the twa renunciatiouns of Kintyr. Item, letters to the Lord Alexander and Campbell went not Hary Alexander. Item, letters to the Lord Lorn.

quhil Fryday the 10 Apryll.

Item, an vther pacquet to my fone within this, quhilk conteinis all that is Lorne. mentionat above in that to him, quhilk fould haif gone with the Prefident,

but he wes gone.

Item, an vther pacquet to my fone, quhairin L. Quhythill his fignator, with letters to Erl Traquhair, Erl Stirling, and Lord Alexander.

11 Apryll, Setterday, 1635.

This day pacquet fent be James Prymrois, quhairin the Commiffioun of the Borders, with my letter to the Erl Traquhair to gett one vnder the feill of Ingland, and to fie this quhilk is fent feillit with Ingland's feill at the left. Item, letters to Erl Stirling from Archbifchop of Glafgow, in quhilk, prefentation to Mr. G. Bennet of Libertoun, with my erneft recommendatioun. Item, fent to the Erl Stirling the fignatour of Mafons and Wrychtis renuncit be Sir Anthonie Alexander. Item, letters to Lord Panmuir, Sir James Carmichael, L. Ley, Erl Traquhair, acquainting him with the Commiffioun of Borders. Item, letters to my fone, and within the letters from John, Thomas, James, and als a letter from me to Hary Hope, and to him one from Alexander Lowrie.
