13 Apryll 1635, Mononday.

This day left with my fone at my going to Craighall, to the funeralls of my good Lord Melvil, ane pacquet to be dispatcht, quhairin to Erl Stirling, Erl Traquhair, Erl Panmuir, only to acquaint them with my going to Fyff. But the cheif erand is a letter to the Erl Buchan, with a prefentatioun to Mr. George Bennet of the Kirks of Liberton and Quodquhon, vacand be the deceifs of Mr. John Cheiflie, quhilk ar incloffit in a letter to my fone Mr. Alexander.

24 Apryll 1635.

Sent by Erl Mar to my fone Mr. Alexander j°xx doubill angels, quhairof for jewellis to Mary lxxxxb. fterling, the remanent extending to 30lb. ft. to himself.

3 Junij 1635, Weddinfday.

Sent with Charles Mowat, fervitor to Erl of Buchan, ane pacquett to Lord Panmuir, quhairin the new deputatioun of Admirality, with the nott how to mend it, and reffons thairoff. Item, the forme of the letter to me from his Majestie anent my fignatour, quhilk is past. Item, one to him from my fone Sir John, with thanks for promiffing to interpone anent kneiling.

Item, within his letters to Mr. Alexander from Sir Thomas, but none from me, faif on the bak chyding him for the paying Mr. Vdward 50b fterling. Item, letter of thanks to Lord Duik for Kynninmonth, quhilk wes oppugnit be Bifchop Rofs. Item, thanks to Erl Buchan for Mr. George Bennet's presentatioun to Libertoun and Quodquhoun.

This day being Mononday, I producit his Majeftie's letter in Exchekker for paffing of my fignatour, quhilk wes registrat, and therefter my fignatour past.

This day letters delyuerit to Mr. James Gordoun, to be fent to the Erl Stirling, quhairin to the Erll and Lord Alexander. Item, to Lord Panmuir, quhairin from me and Sandfurd. Item, to Mr. Alexander, quhairin a letter to the Lord Duik from the Countefs of Mar, and from me to Erl Ancrum. Item, one to James Levingstoun, with letters to him from Sandfurd. Item, one from Sir John to with the affignatioun from George Hope to Capringtoun's band of 5000 merks. Item, one from Sir Thomas to him, to caus delyuer my Lord Duik's letter by another than himself. Item, a letter to Sir James Carmichaell.

Sent with Sir James Leflie letters to Lord Panmuir, and within them the Copie of the Renunciatioun, to be fubfcryvit be the Lord Marques of Hamiltoun, in favors of Lord Panmuir of the teind bolls affignit out of Moniky to Garvok and Panbryd. The principal delyuerit to Orbiftoun, to

Memorandum.—Theis went not with Sir James Leflie, becaus I gaif them to Orbistoun, quho slipit him.

Item, fent ane pacquet with Mr. Andro Lermonth, quhairin twa to the Lord Panmuir, one to Erl of Annandaill, with one from Richard Maxwell, one to Henry Alexander, one to Erll of Ancrum, with one from his fone. Item, one from John and Thomas to Mr. Alexander.

20 Junij 1635.

Sent with Mr. Thomas Murray ane pacquet to Lord Panmuir, quhairin Orbiftoun's pacquett to Sir James Hamiltoun, within quhilk ar all theis that fould haif gone with Sir James Leflie. Item, to Hary Alexander anent the Lord Melvill.

24 Junij 1635.

This day Mr. Nathaniel Vdward his fervand prefentit to me a tikket to him from Mr. Alexander, testifeing that he had borrowit of him only xiij b sterling, quhilk I did inftantlie pay and retene the tikket.

29 Junij 1635.

Letters fent to Erl Stirling with his fervand, quho come from him in his way hither at Standfurd, and defyrit him to direct a pacquet to his fone Hary, quhairin ar letters to Lord Panmuir. Item, letters from Bifchop of Dunblane to Hary, with Mr. William Bellenden his prefentatioun. Item, letter to Lord Panmuir from Patrik Maule.

4 Julij 1635, Setterday.

This day the Erll of Stirling cam from Court, and in his chamber in Mr. John Layng his houfe, the Erl Traquhair promifit in the Erll of

Stirling his prefence, to advance to me my penfion for a 3eir, if I prevaillit in the matter of Bancreiff aganis Sir P. Murray.

11 Julij 1635, Setterday.

This day a packet fent be Mr. James Gordoun, and fent in it a letter 25 September 1635. -Reportit to me be to Henry Alexander, and within it a fignatour of Sir Alexander Homes of Threipdailly. Item, a letter to Lord Panmuir to be appendit to the packet John Glass, that in cafe to meit him be the way, and if not to be fent bak to me be Alexander.

This day payit to my fone Sir John ane vther je merks for the Ile of Crawmond Kirk, quhilk makis 300 merkis.

9 Auguft 1635.

Item, gevin to him to gif Mr. William Colvill to pay the mafons and wrychts je merks, quhilk makes 400 merks.

22 September 1635.

Sent letters in the pacquet direct be the Erll of Stirling. Item, to James Levingstoun from Juftice Clerk in favors of my fone Sir Thomas. Item, from Sir Thomas to Mr. Alexander. Item, from me to Sir James Lockart, teftifeing the Lords Refolutioun anent the matter of the fisching.

Item, this famyn day delyuerit a letter to L. Ernok, quho went journey direct from me to James Levingstoun anent the communty of Dunbar.

25 September 1635.

Payit be myself to James Aytoun, measoun, ix dollars.

26 September 1635.

Item, letters fent with the goodman of Orbiftoun his pacquet delyverit to 3oung Brounley, viz., one to Mr. Levingstoun from Juftice Clerk, anent my fone Sir Thomas, and one from Sir Thomas to Mr. Alexander his brother.

28 September, 1635.

Item, letter from me to James Levingstoun, in anfuer of his anent Sir Thomas, and als letters from the Justice Clerk to that famyn effect, quhairin a nott fent vp that the Wardie lands fould be first offerit to James Levingstoun, and this fent be John Inglis, younger fone to John Inglis, fkynner, burgefs of Edinburgh.

Delyuerit to the Lord Juftice Clerk a letter to James Levingstoun anent my Lord Cranstounridell. Item, ane other to Mr. William Elphinstoun anent the Juftice Court, and Reformatioun therof.

2 October 1635.

Sent a pacquet with Alexander Pirrie, and thairin writtin to Mr. Alexander by myself. Item, to Mr. Dalzell, Sir James Lockart, with the copie of the Counsell's letter to his Majeftie, anent the fifching, to the Erll of Ancrum, and to Vicount Belheavin.
