Delyuerit to the Erl of Traquhair at his going to Court, the two Commiffiouns of the Borders; one vnder the Gret Seil of Scotland, and the vther vnder the Gret Seil of Ingland, with ane new Commiffioun dockettit be me. Item, the fignatour of the Erl of Queinsberie's als dockettit be me on the fycht of on dockettit be the Erll of Stirling, and figned be his Majestie, quhilk conteins a taxt of the ward and mariage of the lordfchip of Torthoruid, quhilk was nevir taxt of befoir. Item, delyverit to the faid Erll ane pacquet to my fone Mr. Alexander, quhairin to his facred Majeftie, with 22 articles of accompt of his Majefties fervice. Item, to Erl Stirling, Hary Alexander, Juftice Clerk, Mr. Dalzell. Item, to Sir James Lockhart. Item, two pacquets to James Levingstoun, and within one of them my anfuer to his Majestie anent James his rycht to the Commonty of Dumbar, and with a new fignator to James, dockettit be me, and ane letter from John Sempill to James Levingstoun.

Gevin to James Prymrois his pacquet letters to Erl Stirling, quhairin to my fon, and within his to Erl Traquhair and Justice Clerk, and alfo one to Serjant Young, from Mr. John Lyndfay, nepho to the Dean of Winchester.

19 October 1635.

Sent letters with Richard Foulertoun, and givin to Orbiftoun to be gevin to him, viz., to my fon Mr. Alexander, quhairin to Erl Traquhair and Erl Stirling generall letters allanerly, except from fuiche off the factioun in Aberdein, anent the cheifing of thair Magiftrates.

Panmuir went to
Court.

Item, this fame day, at nicht, delyverit letters to the Lord Panmuir, viz., 20 October, Lord one to himself, and within it the form of the warrand for his and my annuity, and price to be dischargit. Item, to Erl Stirling, Erl Traquhair, my fone, and Hary Alexander.

Sent ane pacquet to Erl Stirling, quhairin letters to himself, with one to him from Mr. John Paterfoun's wyff, for Mr. Alexander Hepburne. Item, letters to William Murray from hir, with myne to him, and within it the fignatour of bastardie of Mr. Andro Mickle to Mr. Alexander Hepburne. Item, letters to the Lord Panmuir, and within it one to the Erl Traquhair, quhairin for Mr. Andro Mickle his gift. Item, letters to my fone Mr. Alexander, and within it letters to the Dean of Winchester, from myself and Tilliquhilly, directit to Serjant Young. Item, letter to Sir John Gordon, from John Peter, in favours of Mr. Alexander Hepburne. Item, a letter to one Mr. Nicolfoun, from Mr. Thomas Henryfoun. Item, in the letters to the Lord Panmuir, fent the toun of Brichen thair petitioun, with two prefentatiouns blank, one of the preceptory of Mafondew, the other of St. Salvators.

Delyverit to Mr. John Raa, fone to James Raa, a letter to Mr. John Lothian, in his favores. Item, a pacquet to my fon Mr. Alexander, quhairin a letter to the Erl Annandaill, and within it from Thomas Maxwell.

28 October 1635.

Gevin to the Lord Panmuir his litill boy, quho went be sea, an letter to the Lord, and within it one to Mr. Alexander, compleining of his obfcure wryting, and commanding him to wryt particularlie of his eftait and attendance.

Laft October, Setterday, 1635.

Letter fent to Lord Panmuir, and within it one from Mr. Henry Sinclair, adverteifing him of the deces of Mr. Andro Drummond, minifter at Panbryd. Item, a letter to Erl Stirling, and another to Erl Traquhair, fent in a pacquet direct to the Lord Alexander by James Prymrois, quhilk pacquet went on Sounday, the first day of November 1635.

2 November 1635, Mononday.

Gevin be me to James Aytoun, meafoun, in full fatiffactioun of the bigging of the Ile of Crawmond, 14 dollors, and to his men 1 dollor.

Deir Mr. John Rig deceiffit. The Lord prepare me, for I am now the Mr. John Rig. only and laft of that ftok of mankynd.

Item, this days report cam off the Erl of Marfchell his deceifs, at his Erl Marschell. awin hous in Fettereffo, of 8 dayis feiknes, about the 29 or 30 of October.

5 November 1635, Thursday.

This day an pacquet fent to Erl Stirling be me, quhairin letters to the Erl from Mr. James Gordoun, and from me, anent the fignet. Item, to Lord Panmuir, with Mr. Patrik Lyndfay his letter. Item, ane accompt of his effairs, viz., that Mr. Montgomerie's tak is acceptit. Item, commiffion paft in Counsell anent the flaers of blak fysche and smoltis for a zeir, quhilk wes opponit be Sir John Hay, becaus of the thefaurer's abfence. Item, I wret to him anent the toun of Queinfferie, thair fignatour. Item, letters to the Erl of Mortoun, with the fignatour; and letters from Erl Wyntoun and Erll of Dunfermling. Item, letters to James Maxwell from Erl of Wyntoun to that effect. Item, my letters to Erl Traquhair, to Erl Stirling, to Hary Alexander, to that effect. 16 November 1635, Mononday.

This day gevin to John Dalzell letter to the Master his brother, anent Penfoun, and thanks for the advertisement anent the exceptioun takin anent the fignatour of Meyneris, prefentit be Mr. Charles Geddice. Item, letters to Lord Panmuir, anent the calling of his caus; and

to 20 December, and anent the Mafter of Donypace; and within Lord Panmuir his letter one to my fone, anent his money to be furnishit to him.

19 November 1635.

This day the Erl of Traquhair returnit from Court, and delyverit to me Erl Traquhair.

his Maiefties letter, anent the fignatour of my haill lands, with the blensche taxt ward and few holding; with a copie of his Maiefties warrand to him for discharging the pryce of annuity.

Item, on 20 November, in Counfel-hous, I enterit in fpeeche with him anent the affife of error, and he promifit to me a precept of 2000 b scotts if I fould obteine it, quhilk I acceptit.

21 November 1635.

This day delyverit to Alexander Narn of Sandfurd, to the vfe of my fone ander, 50 peices. Mr. Alexander, to be gevin him quhen he comes to Court, fiftie tuelf-pund

4 December 1635, Fryday.

This day letters fent to the Erl Stirling, quhairin to himself, with his penfioun of Tillicultry dockettit be me. Item, to Lord Panmuir, anfuer of his last, with the fignatour; and contract with the Lyoun, and my opinioun thairanent. Item, to James Levingstoun, anfuer anent his fignatour, and within his to Juftice Clerk, anent the Commiffioun of Jufticiary. Item, to my fone Mr. Alexander, to Sandfurd, to Sir Robert Gordoun, and to the Erl of Annandaill, anent his effaires, and his promife of 1o wedders on the Lowmonds.

Item, fent to my fone Mr. Alexander a letter, and within it the letter from Mr. Bankis to Horff, anent the Grenland fchip. Item, a letter to Lord Panmuir anent Ylaw, and the Erl Traquhair his oy to it; and

within it one from Mr. Patrik Lyndfay: and all thir inclofit on the bak to the Lord Panmuir.

Memorandum.-This day the Lady Roffe reffavit from me hir fignatour Lady Rosse. of Craig and Balgone, to be advyfit with be the Erll of Traquhair; and hir Ladyship promifit to me, at the returne of the fignatour vnder his Maiefties hand, fiftie pieces.

Item, writtin to the Lord Panmuir, and sent to him L. Morphie's letter, reffavit 8 December. Item, the copie of the decreit arbitrall; and, last, intreatit him to affift the delyvery of my letter to his Majestie anent Balgone, with the paffing of the fignatour; and als writtin to the Master of Dalzell, anent the fuccefs of his caus with Mr. Dauid Perfoun.

12 December 1635.

Memorandum.-Nothing gevin to the Erl Traquhair bot his Majesties letter, and report within it, with the fignatour dockettit be me; and all vthers my letters inclofit in an pacquet, and direct to the Erl Stirling, and delyverit to Mr. James Gordoun, quho fent the famyne to the Erl Stirling, with the Erl Traquhair his fervand; and I addit to the former letters a letter to the Erl Stirling himself, a letter to Justice Clerk, with Alexander Nefmyth his letters to him and James Levingstoun. Item, a letter to Bishop Brichen. Item, a new letter to Lord Panmuir, anent the L. Cadder his feu duty, cravit be the Erl Traquhair. Item, a letter to my fone Mr. Alexander. Item, a letter to Erl Annandaill, with the renunciatioun of his penfioun in his Majefties hands.
