WE, for certane gude and refonable caufis moving ws for pe tyme, and fpecialie at pe requeft of pe Quenis Grace, and our bruper Archebald Erle of Ergyle, has gevin and grantit, and be pir prefents, gevis and grants ane fre licence and tollerance to our welebelouit coufing Patrik Lord Gray to remane at hame him self, fra þis our present armye convenit at Hadingtoun, pe laft day of Junij in xlviij 3ers, ay and quhill our faid bruþer Erle of Ergyle cum þair him self: The said Patrik Lord Gray sendand fourthe his bruper, with his folks and freinds, to our faid armye; and þat nochtwithstanding any our proclamationes paft afore herupoun: And will þat þe faid Lord Gray incure na crime of leis maieftie perthrow, be byding fra our faid armye, nor to be callit nor pwnift in his perfoun, guds nor heretage perfor, be pis our letter of licence, gevin vnder our fignet, and fufcriuit with our hand, At Liddyntoun, þe first day of July in xlviij zers.
